Privacy policy

Iowa Lawn & Snow is a simple information website. We want you to be able to read it without being tracked.

What we collect

  • No accounts. The site does not ask you to sign up or log in.
  • Forms. We have two forms: the homeowner quote request form and the sponsor inquiry form for companies. What happens to that information is explained below.
  • No advertising trackers. We sell labeled sponsored spots to local companies, but we don't run third-party ad networks, advertising cookies or tracking scripts.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
  • Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the site, and we do not sell or share it.

Quote requests

When you send a quote request, we receive what you enter: your name, email, phone (if given), town, street address or cross street (if given), the services you want, property type, timing and notes.

  • Who sees it. Your request is stored by our website host, Netlify, and emailed to the site owner. We read each request and share it with up to 3 local companies from our listings that serve your town, so they can contact you with quotes. We only do this because you tick the consent box on the form.
  • Nothing is automatic. No company receives your request automatically, and we don't sell your information or share it with anyone else.
  • What companies do with it is up to them, under their own privacy practices. They may call or email you.
  • Free. The service is free for homeowners. We can't promise how many companies will reply or when.
  • Storage. Requests stay in our Netlify account until we delete them.

When a company uses the sponsor inquiry form, we receive the company name, contact name, email, phone, website, towns and message. We use them only to reply about sponsorship.

Advertising

Some town pages may show one spot paid for by a local company. It is always labeled "Sponsored." Sponsored spots don't use cookies or track you. See the advertising disclosure.

Our guides link to sources such as Iowa State University, city websites, state agencies and the EPA, and may link to local businesses. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

Changes

If we add analytics or change how we handle form submissions, we will update this page first.
